Michelle Lynn Duff 1988-2012

It was 13 years ago today that Bob’s daughter Michelle made a decision that would change his world forever. It is because she ended her own life that Abbreviated Angels Foundation was formed. It gives purpose to his pain, which makes it easier for him to bear. I never got to meet Michelle, but I have been with Bob since a year after her passing. I have watched him struggle each year in July – his sorrow is so evident. Her siblings miss her so much. She has many nieces and nephews that she wasn’t here to share her love of nature with – and maybe even her secret to catching bunnies.

I wish I could have met you, Michelle. From everything your dad told me about you, I believe we would have been friends.

Most people don’t know..

Most people don’t understand how heavy it is to fight battles no one else can see.

To drag yourself out of a dark place… mentally, emotionally… and still show up. That kind of strength is rare. So if you did that today, or any day before, I hope you know… That’s something to be proud of. I’m proud of you. Keep going.

You’re doing better than you think.

The Bus

Abbreviated Angels is a nonprofit group that travels the country to promote suicide prevention, awareness, and survivor support. Bob Duff felt called to create the group after losing his own daughter to suicide in 2012. Bob & his wife Karen have a simple mission, to “bring hope to the darkness”.
The Community Action Commission’s Head Start Program is proud to donate one of their decommissioned school buses to Mr. & Mrs Duff, to serve as a mobile office for their mission.
If you, or someone you know, would like them to give a presentation or offer their services, please call Bob Duff  540-998-1385.
